Communities

Several cities have taken the first step toward achieving their California Green Comunity designations by submitting innovative action plans that meet environmental best practices. Go to the Communities page and click on each city page to see the exciting new directions cities are adopting to create a brighter, more sustainable future.

Each community’s approach and involvement in the ten practice areas will be unique. Achieving Silver, Gold and Platinum levels will vary from city to city, depending upon their baseline program assessment. Award levels will be granted based on the progress made in the areas outlined on the Challenges page.

AWARD LEVELS

Because each community’s approach and involvement in the ten practice areas will be unique, achieving Silver, Gold and Platinum levels will vary from city to city, depending upon their baseline program assessment. Award levels will be granted based on the progress made in each area.

The Silver Level is achieved by agency and facility-level planning and implementation of best practices across each of the 10 practice areas.
The Gold Level is achieved by the adoption of multiple best practices in each practice area.
The Platinum Level is achieved through agency and community-wide adoption of multiple best practices in each practice area.
